The Bears on Sunday locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, by virtue of the Panthers’ 26-0 loss to the Jaguars in Jacksonville.
Carolina fell to 2-14, clinching the NFL’s worst record this season.
The Bears acquired Carolina’s first-round choice as part of a blockbuster trade in March. They sent the No. 1 selection in the 2023 draft to the Panthers in exchange for receiver DJ Moore, 2023 first- and second-round picks, a 2024 first-round choice and a 2025 second-round pick.
The Bears traded down a second time in the first round of the 2023 draft, moving from No. 9 to 10 and selecting Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright. The Bears obtained a fourth-round choice in next year’s draft from the Eagles in the deal.
With the second-round pick they acquired from the Panthers, the Bears moved up five spots and selected cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
