Chainsaw Man Fan Art Has Power & Denji Recreate Science Deniers’ Mirror Theory

There is only one brain cell in Chainsaw Man, and both Denji and Power seem to share it.

Recently, there’s been a video blowing up on TikTok that has some people believing there’s something supernatural afoot rather than plain old science. The mirror theory, as shown by one of Chainsaw Man‘s resident geniuses Denji to the other resident genius Power in giga’s (@/giganticbuddha) fan art, is when someone places an object behind a piece of paper against the mirror. Inexplicably, the mirror knows what’s on the other side of the paper. Denji and Power are routinely unfazed when they’re up against powerful Devils, but somehow this experiment is the thing that thoroughly freaks the two of them out.

CSM Fans Gave the Art Their Stamp of Approval

Several people have commented on the fan art, laughing about how this is “100% in character” for Denji and Power. One person made a backhanded compliment, writing, “Denji and Power have the average IQ of a tiktocker but significantly more charisma.” Another Twitter user took the fan art further by joking, “Aki would just tell them it’s the mirror devil doing its thing as a joke but then immediately regretted it after these two started smashing every mirrors in sight.”

Denji and Power aren’t exactly the sharpest knives in the kitchen, despite their claims that they are otherwise. During their training with Kishibe, the two had put their single brain cell to work to outsmart their “Master.” Despite failing again to defeat Kishibe, they had earned a rare compliment from the self-proclaimed strongest Devil Hunter in the world. Although fans regularly joke about Denji and Power’s low levels of intelligence, they have also proven to show moments of brilliance and resourcefulness from time to time.

About Chainsaw Man’s Manga

Chainsaw Man, written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, an enigmatic creator who once ate his childhood pet, initially began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2018 to 2020 for the first 97 chapters. The second part, the “Academy Saga,” began serialization in Shōnen Jump+. Part 1 of the manga follows Denji, an impoverished young man who can turn into a being with a chainsaw for his head at the pull of a cord. After joining the Public Safety Devil Hunters, an organization created to fight against devils, Denji meets Blood Fiend Power and stoic Devil Hunter Aki Hayakawa. While the three seemed to be constantly at each other’s throats, they eventually became close enough that the fans called them the Hayakawa family.

Chainsaw Man‘s Chapter 129 releases on May 9, 2023. The anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
