David Corenswet Replaces Henry Cavill As Superman In DCU Concept Art

To say that the artwork done by @spdrmnkyxxiii is incredible is an extreme understatement. As seen above, their interpretation of David Corenswet in a red, blue, and yellow Superman outfit sitting atop a building to keep a protective eye on Metropolis is something special. The use of the tagline “You’ll Believe a Man Can Fly” — the same one used for the groundbreaking 1978 feature, “Superman” — is an especially nice touch as well. Based on this fan art, it’s abundantly clear that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s choice to hire Corenswet for “Superman: Legacy” was a smart one.

Of course, there will always be those who aren’t sold on Corenswet’s casting. Many DC fans refuse to budge on the stance that the late Christopher Reeve was the pinnacle of Superman performances, while others still stand by Henry Cavill as being the one true big-screen interpretation of the Man of Steel. Thus, it’s fair to say that Corenswet has a lot of pressure to contend with as he steps into the comic book movie role of a lifetime. One can only hope that he knocks it out of the park and develops a strong fan following all his own.

“Superman: Legacy” swoops into theaters on July 11, 2025.
