Incoming Ermac update for Mortal Kombat 1 adds heavily requested feature, new moves, combos and more

Mortal Kombat fans have been waiting quite a long time to finally get their hands on Ermac again, and it looks like he’ll be bringing some new toys with him too that should help spice things up.

During today’s Kombat Kast broadcast, NetherRealm Studios unveiled some new features, moves and combo strings coming in Mortal Kombat 1’s arriving update on top of the Ermac and Mavado gameplay.

Although Krossplay did finally come to MK1 back in February with Peacemaker, there was still one key mode that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players couldn’t use it in.

That’s about to change, however, with King of the Hill cross-platform play being added with Ermac, which means online tournaments and parties can finally open up to hopefully everyone.

This next one is a smaller but still appreciated addition with NRS also putting in a new UI element for Geras that shows both players how many times he’s used his countdown in a match.

As for new moves, Reptile will be receiving a more klassic spit projectile that goes full screen along with the ability to cancel out of his drop while Rain is said to have at least two new attacks as well like what looks to be a two-hit launcher.

Shujinko was long considered one of the weakest Kameos in MK1, but it looks like they’re trying to make the copycat much more of a threat with a plethora of stronger stolen moves added to his arsenal with some of them shown in a short showcase.

And then they also confirmed that at least Scorpion will be getting a new combo string, which may be a bit more underwhelming, but it’ll hopefully give him some better confirms.

They did unveil one of Ermac’s Brutalities in MK1, which pays homage to a klassic Fatality of his from way back in the day.

We won’t know all of the changes in detail until the official patch notes drop, and those should be coming in less than a day.

The new update should be dropping sometime tomorrow morning, April 16, with the early access arrival of Ermac while Mavado will be coming to the game in May.
