Nintendo Leaker Teases Big GameCube Games for the Switch

Frequent Nintendo leaker Zippo has suggested that the Nintendo Switch could be home to some major GameCube games in the near future. While all the other gaming companies recently hosted big events as part of Summer Game Fest, Nintendo decided to remain on the sidelines. However, rumors are heating up that a Nintendo Direct presentation could be happening at some point soon, as the upcoming slate of Nintendo Switch exclusives is looking rather bare.

Nintendo is still riding high on the massive success that was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it doesn’t have much confirmed for the rest of the year. Pikmin 4 is launching in July, but fall and holiday 2023 are looking barren for Nintendo. With no new Nintendo console releasing this year, many have assumed that the Big N still has some games in the works for its Nintendo Switch console.

According to leaker Zippo, two of these games are classic GameCube titles in the form of F-Zero GX and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. This isn’t the first time that HD remasters of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door or F-Zero GX have been rumored, but Zippo believes that both will be released by the end of the year.

F-Zero GX and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door may not be the only GameCube games ready to get new life on the Nintendo Switch. Switch ports of the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD remasters have been rumored for quite some time as well, but still have yet to be announced. Zippo said that they will happen “at some point” and speculated that they might even be shadow dropped, ala the Metroid Prime remaster shadow drop that happened at a Nintendo Direct earlier this year.

Zippo’s latest blog post provided updates on some other Nintendo projects that they’ve leaked, like the 2D Donkey Kong game and the 2D Super Mario game that are supposedly in development. Zippo believes that the 2D Donkey Kong game will open next year, while the 2D Super Mario game could be the company’s big November release.

It goes without saying that fans should take this information with a massive grain of salt. While Zippo has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, fans should always wait for an official announcement. If a Nintendo Direct does happen soon as rumored, hopefully Nintendo offers some clarity on these “leaked” Nintendo Switch projects.
