Sangamner Assembly election: Can Shiv Sena’s Amol Khatal beat Congress Veteran Balasaheb Thorat?
The Sangamner seat, identified as constituency number 217, is a general seat in the Maharashtra State Assembly. Situated in the Ahmednagar district, Sangamner encompasses parts of the Rahata tehsil and the entire Sangamner tehsil. The constituency is part of the Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency, which includes five other Assembly segments: Akole, Shirdi, Kopargaon, Shrirampur, and Nevasa.

Congress veteran Balasaheb Thorat is pitted against Shiv Sena’s Amol Khatal in the Sangamner Assembly constituency.in 20234 Maharashtra Assembly election.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Balasaheb Thorat retained his seat in Sangamner, securing 125,380 votes. His closest competitor, Sahebrao Ramchandra Navale of Shiv Sena, received 63,128 votes.

Thorat had also won the seat in 2014, with 103,564 votes, while his Shiv Sena opponent, Aher Janar, garnered 44,759 votes.

This time, Thorat, who is seeking re-election for the ninth term, faces a formidable challenge from Shiv Sena’s Amol Khatal.

The Sangamner constituency will vote on November 20, 2024, alongside the other 287 constituencies in Maharashtra. The results will be declared on November 23.
