Highlighting the state’s strategic location, which shares borders with Myanmar (440 km), Tibet (1080 km), and Bhutan (160 km), Khandu noted that the Army plays a key role in tourism development due to the state’s low population and proximity to international borders.
“Through the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP), launched by the Union Home Ministry to develop border villages, we are collaborating with the Army and paramilitary forces to enhance sustainable tourism in these areas,” he added.
Khandu also pointed out the immense potential for adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, from trekking in untouched landscapes to rafting in wild rivers. “We remain committed to promoting sustainable tourism, empowering local communities, and building a responsible tourism ecosystem,” he said.
In the last decade, Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed a 205 percent increase in tourist arrivals, demonstrating significant growth in the tourism sector.
He encouraged stakeholders such as tour operators, investors, and influencers to explore the state’s potential and collaborate on innovative tourism projects. He assured them that the state would provide a supportive environment for sustainable tourism ventures.
