Anne Curtis‘s Madame Tussauds wax figure is here!
The award-winning actress and “It’s Showtime” host’s figure was unveiled at an event in Makati City on Wednesday.
It will be transferred to the Madame Tussauds museum at The Peak in Hong Kong, where Anne will be the first-ever Filipino actress and host to be displayed at the museum.
The wax figure captured Anne’s exact likeness, all the way down to her moles, freckles, and the way she smiles. The figure posed holding a microphone, as if she were ready to host onstage.
“In my 27 years in the industry, I felt that a microphone has been such a powerful tool,” Anne said during the reveal.
“And whether it be hosting, giving a speech as a UNICEF ambassador, doing my spiels as a TV host on ‘Showtime,’ or even doing concerts in the Araneta Coliseum, it has been such a powerful tool for me, so I felt like this really should be part of my wax figure.”
The figure also wore an elegant cream Dior gown donated by the actress, as well as timeless silver jewelry. She previously wore it at a Tiffany & Co. event, which she said was her comeback in the fashion industry.
“I wanted something that would be timeless and elegant, which really speaks with how I like to personally dress. So we went with something that I felt was an iconic moment for me,” Anne said.
Anne is looking forward to Filipinos visiting the figure in Hong Kong, and referenced her famous meme.
“I know it’s been a long-time running joke of like, umuuwi ang ating mga kababayan tuwing birthday ko. Ngayon, you don’t have to worry about coming home for my birthday, because you can now visit me at Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong,” Anne said with a smile.
More than that, Anne added that having this wax figure is a way for Filipinos to introduce themselves on the worldwide stage.
“Whether it be sports, beauty pageants, fashion shows, acting–now is the time for Filipinos,” Anne said.
“It’s about time that we do make a name for ourselves as Filipinos on a worldwide stage,” she added, and said that she is grateful and honored to have a wax figure.
Present at the unveiling were Anne’s loved ones: sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith and her boyfriend Jeff Ortega, and mother Carmen Curtis-Smith.
Anne’s figure will be available for viewing at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong starting December 9.
She is the latest Filipino artist to have her own wax figure, after Manny Pacquiao, Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and Lea Salonga.
