Maharashtra CM Shinde resigns, to act as caretaker chief minister
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde resigned on Tuesday (November 26). He met Governor CP Radhakrishnan and tendered his resignation following assembly elections result

The governor asked Shinde to act as a caretaker chief minister till a new CM is sworn in.

Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar also visited the Raj Bhavan. They, too, tendered their resignations.

The term of the Maharashtra assembly ends on November 26.

The Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP secured a massive victory, winning 230 seats in the 288-member assembly. The alliance is yet to reach a consensus on the chief ministerial face.

On new chief minister, Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar said, “Mahayuti leaders will sit together and discuss and go to Delhi and then a decision will be taken. CM Shinde has clearly said that whatever decision PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah take, it will be acceptable to him.”
