**Intro**: Tata Motors has confirmed the launch of its much-awaited Harrier EV by March 2025. Positioned above the Curvv EV, the electric SUV will offer dual-motor options, 400+ km range, and advanced features.
Tata Harrier EV Set for Launch: Tata Motors has confirmed the launch of the Harrier EV as its next electric vehicle after the introduction of the Curvv EV. The Harrier EV is expected to arrive in the market by early 2025, with Tata’s earnings call document confirming a launch timeline by March 2025. The Harrier EV will target customers looking for a larger electric SUV offering more space and features.
Design Tweaks for EV Version: The design of the Harrier EV will closely resemble the petrol-powered Harrier but will come with certain tweaks to suit its electric nature. Test mules of the Harrier EV, spotted during testing, had a similar silhouette to the ICE version, indicating minimal changes to the overall design. However, the EV version is expected to feature a new grille and updated bumpers to distinguish it from the internal combustion engine (ICE) model. Additionally, the Harrier EV will come with specially designed 5-spoke alloy wheels to improve aerodynamics and efficiency.
Refined Interior Features: Inside, the Harrier EV is expected to retain much of the cabin layout of the ICE Harrier, with some updates in terms of colour schemes and design elements. The Harrier EV will be equipped with advanced tech features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Other expected features include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital display, and a premium sound system. The Harrier EV could also include ventilated and powered front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, and the Arcade.EV suite, Tata’s in-house entertainment platform for EVs.
Comprehensive Safety Suite: Safety will be a key focus for the Harrier EV, which is expected to come with level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for improved driver assistance. The SUV will also feature seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility and protection.
Powertrain Options and Drive: Tata has confirmed that the Harrier EV will offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, designed to deliver a more powerful and efficient driving experience. Additionally, the vehicle will likely be available in a single-motor variant. Multiple battery options will also be offered to cater to different customer preferences. Although Tata has not yet officially disclosed the Harrier EV’s range, industry experts anticipate that it will be capable of offering more than 400 km of range under real-world driving conditions.
Price and Competitor Landscape: The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be priced around ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). This price point will place it in direct competition with models like the BYD Atto 3, which offers a similar electric SUV experience, as well as the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8, an electric version of the popular XUV700. The Harrier EV was first previewed in concept form at the Auto Expo 2023. The concept revealed at the event offered a first look at what customers can expect from Tata’s premium electric SUV in the near future.
