With the Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction 2025 set to start in a few hours, Rishabh Pant has been in the news as he is being touted to break all records and emerge as the most expensive player to be bought in the history of the. If reports are to go by, Pant’s heroics in the T20 World Cup have given him an edge at this year’s auction and some suggest that he could ignite a bidding war and could be sold for well over Rs 25 crore as the auction unfolds in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24.

Nonetheless, On December 30, 2022, the Team India wicket-keeper batter was involved in a near-fatal accident, but survived thanks to two angels who came to his rescue after his Mercedes car burst into flames, when the vehicle collided with a highway divider in Uttarakhand.

Now, the 27-year-old as a thank you gesture has gifted the youth scooters and a video of the same has gone viral on social media.

Pant, who was seriously injured in the accident was rushed by the duo to Dehradun, where doctors recognised the cricketer and managed to save his life. At the time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had said that Pant suffered two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and other injuries. “He is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The police confirmed that Pant was driving alone when the accident occurred,” the BCCI had said.

Pant had injured his right wrist, ankle, and toe, and suffered abrasions on his back. Two years on, the 27-year-old has completely recovered and thanked the two youth who saved him by gifting them a scooter each.

Meanwhile, with IPL mega auction about to begin in Jeddah, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has said that the “X-factor” that Rishabh Pant offers will trigger a bidding war for him in Sunday’s IPL mega auction in Jeddah and the wicketkeeper batter could smash the Rs 25 crore barrier.

Kolkata Knight Riders shelled out Rs 24.75 crore to acquire the services of Australian pacer Mitchell Starc ahead of IPL 2024, the highest in the tournament’s history so far, and Raina felt it could be broken this time. “More than his batting and keeping, he’s a great character to have in the team when he is a captain.
