In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Bermann underscored the potential for collaboration while acknowledging challenges posed by India’s regulatory landscape.
Bermann noted that several French companies are already well-positioned to partner with India, citing their expertise and readiness to contribute to India’s nuclear energy ambitions. “French companies are interested in cooperating with India on nuclear, and some of them are qualified to cooperate with India,” she stated.
However, she pointed out that India’s regulatory framework presents unique challenges compared to other countries. These complexities may slow down the pace of collaboration and require a nuanced approach to harmonise policies and align objectives.
Bermann also highlighted existing French investments in India as a testament to the fruitful partnership between the two nations. One notable example is Arabelle Solutions, a French company that manufactures turbines and employs 400 people in the country.
She expressed a strong desire to enhance these ties further, stating, “We would like to do more to enhance tie-ups, attract investments, and explore opportunities for French companies in India.”
India and France have a long-standing relationship in nuclear cooperation, marked by shared expertise and technological advancements. Bermann underscored the importance of collaboration in nuclear research and supply chains, considering the significant capacities and experience both countries possess in the sector.
“India and France, being experienced nations with real capacities, collaboration in nuclear research and supply chains is very important,” she remarked. This mutual expertise could pave the way for innovations in nuclear technology, better integration of renewable energy sources, and more efficient supply chain mechanisms.
