In a video released by NASA, Williams and the ISS crew extended warm holiday greetings to their loved ones and the public, revealing the unique traditions they observe in orbit.
“It’s a special time up here with our space family,” Williams said, reflecting on the close-knit bond shared among the seven astronauts aboard the ISS.

Williams, sporting a red T-shirt, described the joy of Christmas preparations in space, noting, “What I love about Christmas is the preparation. The anticipation and teamwork make it so special.”
In the video, three of her fellow crew members were seen wearing Santa hats alongside a small Christmas tree.
The crew took the opportunity to showcase some of the festive items they had brought with them, adding a touch of holiday cheer to their environment.
One astronaut shared a message, saying, “Christmas is about spending time with loved ones. Though we’re far from them, we send our heartfelt Merry Christmas wishes.”
The crew also expressed their gratitude for the teams on Earth who support their mission. “A huge team on the ground keeps us connected. Their sacrifices during the holidays make this mission possible,” one astronaut remarked.
In keeping with holiday traditions, the crew members shared plans for a special festive meal aboard the ISS. The food was specially stocked for the occasion.
