Travellers prioritise meaningful experiences: Travellers are moving away from traditional luxury in favour of more purposeful travel. Tarun Gulati, Director of Himalayan Hotels, explained, “Guests are seeking personalised experiences over standard luxury. For instance, at Ganga Kinare, ONENESS, and VILEEN, we’ve seen travellers opt for curated experiences like yoga by the Ganges or heritage walks.”
Redefining luxury | Travellers are looking for accommodations that combine comfort with eco-consciousness. “Luxury travel in 2024 is no longer solely about opulence; it’s about exclusivity, sustainability, and meaningful connections,” shared Gulati.
“Luxury travel has evolved beyond indulgence, emphasising authenticity, exclusivity, and personalisation,” said Dr Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations & General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi.
Additionally, eco-consciousness is becoming synonymous with luxury. According to Mohit Goyal, Chairman of Ananta Hotels & Resorts, “Sustainability has become synonymous with modern luxury. Properties that adopt eco-friendly practices resonate with environmentally conscious travellers who equate luxury with ethical responsibility.”
For budget-conscious travellers, resorts and hotels have adopted dynamic pricing strategies and bundled offerings to enhance affordability without compromising quality. “In 2024, pricing strategies have become more dynamic and guest-centric,” noted Gulati. “We’ve introduced curated packages that include sightseeing, dining, and wellness sessions, making luxury experiences more accessible.” Similarly, Ananta Hotels & Resorts has focused on experience-led packages.
Cost management amid inflationary pressures: Inflation, staffing, and sustainability investments are significant cost drivers in 2024. “Inflation impacts everything, from food and beverage costs to energy expenses,” said Gulati. Staffing remains critical, with competitive wages necessary to retain skilled professionals. For properties like The Ananta Udaipur, the costs of maintenance and eco-conscious landscaping practices add to the financial burden.
Technological innovations reshape travel planning: Kumud Singh, General Manager at Jaypee Greens Golf Resort, said, “Artificial intelligence and advanced technologies are enabling personalised customer experiences and more authentic, engaging travel offerings.”
