The pledge aims to tighten safety measures and ensure compliance with product safety norms in India. The signing ceremony, held in New Delhi, was attended by Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of State B L Verma, and Department Secretary Nidhi Khare.
President and Chief Public Policy & Regulatory Officer of Reliance Retail’s Ravi Gandhi formalised the commitment on behalf of the company.
As part of the pledge, Reliance Retail committed to detecting and preventing unsafe products, collaborating with regulatory authorities, educating sellers about safety responsibilities, and empowering consumers to report safety violations.
India’s largest retail conglomerate, signed the pledge on behalf of Reliance Retail, including platforms such as JioMart, AJIO, Reliance
Digital, and Netmeds.

B L Verma praised the collaboration, calling it a “step forward in creating a safer consumer ecosystem.” He also acknowledged the Consumer Affairs Department’s efforts to protect consumer interests.
Reliance Retail highlighted plans to use AI-based tools to monitor product safety and engage with enforcement agencies like the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) to address concerns.
National Consumer Day, observed on December 24, serves as a reminder of the critical importance of consumer rights and responsibilities in India.
Reliance Industries shares closed at ₹1,224.20 on the BSE today, up ₹1.90 or 0.16%.
