Gukesh scripted history on Thursday when he dethroned Liren 7.5-6.5 to grab the title in the 14-game World Championship match. Before Gukesh’s feat, the legendary Garry Kasparov of Russia was the youngest world chess champion when he won the title at the age of 22, unseating Anatoly Karpov in 1985.
Gukesh is the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to be crowned as the World Chess Champion.
