Kerala’s Alhind Air prepares for mid-2025 take-off

Kochi-based AlHind Group-promoted upcoming airline Alhind Air is gearing up launching its services in the regional space by mid-2025 with the appointment of key senior executives including Chief Financial Advisor, Director of Engineering and Chief Security Officer.

The airline plans to start flying with two ATR aircraft and plans to scale up the fleet to seven ATRs within a year of launch, which it is aiming for by June next year.

As part of the management team, AlHind Air said it has brought in aviation veteran Alexander Nwuba as the Chief Financial Advisor. Nwuba has previously been associated with airlines such as SkyWest Airline, Westair Benin and Asky Airline.


Mohammed Abid Hussain who has held key roles at multiple MRO companies including GMR has been appointed as Director of Engineering & Maintenance, AlHind Air said.

The airline, which is in the process of securing a flying permit, also said it has roped in A Jayakumar, who has previously headed Security at gulf carrier Air Arabia, as its Chief Security Officer while Siddhartha Sarkar has been appointed as General Manager for Human Resources (HR). Sarkar has previously worked with carriers such as Alliance Air, Air Deccan, SpiceJet & Air Sahara, it said.


Reena Abdul Rahiman, the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer & Airline Accountable Manager said efforts are underway to secure an Air Operating Certificate (AOC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation at the earliest.

As part of its long-term vision, Alhind Air has plans to connect over 40 airports across India before expanding to the Gulf, Middle East, and other international destinations.

“We are in the final stages of onboarding our leadership and senior management executive team. Additional key personnel are expected to join in the coming weeks,” the COO Rahiman said.

The airline said it has also identified other post holders like director of flight operations and training, chief of flight safety, inflight head and cabin safety, director of ground operations, head of network planning & revenue management, head of quality, among others,

“We are meticulously identifying and onboarding trained pilots, cabin crew, engineers, aviation security, and ground staff in a phased manner, ensuring readiness before aircraft induction, and some of them have already been appointed,” Rahiman added

In August 2024, Alhind Air received the Civil Aviation Ministry’s initial nod to start an airline. CNBC-TV18 had earlier reported that the airline plans to launch its operations from the Cochin International Airport. An official had shared that the airline is in talks with Boeing and Airbus to induct narrowbody planes into its fleet to expand its operations domestically as well as to the gulf region.
