9th-Generation Toyota Camry Launched in India: Toyota has officially launched the ninth-generation Camry in India, priced at ₹48 lakh (ex-showroom). This premium sedan comes in a single variant, offering a comprehensive set of features designed to meet the expectations of luxury car buyers in the country.
New Platform Enhances Build Quality: The new Camry is built on Toyota’s TNGA-K (Toyota New Global Architecture-K) platform, which is known for improving structural rigidity and ride comfort. The sedan measures 4,915 mm in length, 1,839 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, ensuring ample cabin space and a balanced stance.
Crown-Inspired Exterior Styling: The Camry adopts design elements influenced by the Toyota Crown. The front showcases a prominent trapezoidal grille flanked by sharp LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, while the rear features sleek C-shaped wraparound LED tail-lamps. These updates contribute to a modern yet understated aesthetic.
Premium and Technologically Advanced Interior: The interior has been redesigned with a focus on functionality and connectivity. It includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system. Other notable features are ventilated 10-way powered front seats, reclining rear seats, a head-up display, and a wireless phone charger.
Efficient Hybrid Powertrain: Powering the Camry is a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). This setup produces a combined output of 230 hp, which is 12 hp more than the outgoing model. The system uses an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) to deliver an impressive ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 25.49 km/l.
Comprehensive Safety Systems: Toyota has equipped the Camry with its Safety Sense 3.0 suite, which provides Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes features like pre-collision assist, lane-tracing assist, radar-based cruise control, and road sign recognition. Additional safety equipment includes nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors.
Pricing Positions it Competitively: The ninth-generation Camry is priced ₹1.83 lakh higher than its predecessor, which was available for ₹46.17 lakh. It is also ₹6 lakh more affordable than its primary competitor, the Skoda Superb (₹54 lakh). Additionally, it offers a viable alternative to entry-level luxury sedans like the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series, which are priced higher.
Six Colour Options Available: Toyota offers the Camry in six exterior colours: Precious Metal, Dark Blue, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Attitude Black, and Platinum White Pearl. These options cater to a variety of aesthetic preferences.
Locally Assembled in Karnataka: Like its predecessors, the Camry is assembled locally at Toyota’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, from completely knocked-down (CKD) kits. Toyota has been assembling the Camry in India since the introduction of the seventh-generation model in 2013.
Hybrid Battery Warranty Ensures Peace of Mind: Toyota provides an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty on the Camry’s hybrid battery pack, highlighting the brand’s confidence in its hybrid technology and commitment to long-term customer satisfaction.
