Highlighting ongoing IT system upgrades to enhance services, Dawra stated that claims are being settled swiftly, and an easier process will be implemented from January 2025 onwards.

This streamlined system will allow EPFO claims to be accessed with minimal intervention for stakeholders, including claimants, beneficiaries, and insured individuals.

Describing India’s demographic dividend as a solution to global labour shortages, the Secretary noted that over 64 crore people in India are engaged in economic activity.
She emphasised the rapid formalisation of the workforce through entry into social security systems.

Speaking at the CII Global Economic Policy Forum in New Delhi, she highlighted that the inclusion of 7 crore people under PF coverage since 2017 reflects this formalisation.

She added that simplified registration methods are being developed, even ahead of the notification of the labour codes.

Addressing the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on jobs, Dawra shared that a government task force is studying its implications.

She noted that AI is contributing to job creation in industries like automobile manufacturing, where the workforce is being trained to work with robots.

Regarding gig economy workers, who lack a traditional employee-employer relationship, Dawra assured that the new labour codes are incorporating their interests, as the government anticipates the number of gig workers to exceed 3 crores by 2030.
