BookMyShow revenue grows 43% to ₹1,396 crore, net profit up 27%

Online ticketing and events platform BookMyShow reported revenue of ₹1,396 crore for FY24, a 43% increase from ₹975.5 crore in FY23, according to data shared by Tofler. It recorded a net profit of ₹108.63 crore, up 27.6% from ₹85 crore in FY23.

From a segment perspective, online ticketing drove growth, contributing ₹801.5 crore to revenue in FY24 (57.4% of total revenue), while revenue from live events nearly doubled to ₹454.7 crore (32%) from ₹237.5 crore in FY23. The company also earned ₹83.5 crore from advertising and marketing, marking a 109% increase from FY23.

Although BookMyShow has been profitable since last fiscal, its live events segment reported a loss of ₹138 crore, compared to a ₹111.8 crore loss in FY23.

The company’s expenses increased 40% to ₹1,319.8 crore in FY24, up from ₹940.8 crore. As per the company’s financials, its revenue share expenses, which is a share it pays cinema owners from the sale of tickets, came in at 323 crore, while it spent 233.49 crore on production in FY24, up 95% YoY from 119.8 crore in FY23. Fees paid to artists too, more than doubled to 211.3 crore in FY24 from 103.9 crore in FY23.

While online ticketing remains its mainstay, the company has been ramping up its live events business, bringing in some major concerts like Maroon 5 in 2024 and upcoming concerts like Coldplay and Ed Shereen in 2025. BookMyShow is currently the market leader in both spaces but now faces competition from Zomato, which recently launched District after acquiring Paytm’s ticketing business for 2,048 crore.
