I have used the Note 14 Pro+ for about 10 days and so far, I really like it. Here are my first impressions.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ comes with a massive 6,200mAh silicon carbon battery. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip powers the phone, which sports an eye-catching 6.67-inch AMOLED curved display and an impressive triple-camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary lens.
Premium Design and Display
Aesthetics are front and centre of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+. You can choose from three colours — blue, purple (with a faux leather finish), and black.
Xiaomi sent me the blue version, called Spectre Blue. This variant comes with 12GB+6GB (extended) RAM) and 512 gigs of storage out of the box.
The Redmi 14 Pro+ has a curved display and back panel, which nicely slope into the frame, making it very comfortable to hold. The back panel, especially in this colour variant, is attractive, with a matte finish towards the curved edges and a textured finish along the centre. The textured finish is not readily apparent to the touch, but nevertheless, it looks really nice.
The bright and clear display makes it a joy to binge videos on or endlessly scroll through social media. The adaptive 60-120Hz refresh rate makes for a smooth user experience, but I must mention here that the curved edges of the display did lead to accidental touches. Maybe I’m just used to the flatter smartphones these days. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it can happen, especially if you are a gamer and one accidental touch can undo all progress.
Performance and Features
Running on Xiaomi HyperOS, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has performed well. But where the device really stands out is in its AI features — it has a plethora of AI tools — some very interesting—including those e have seen on devices from other brands.
Battery and Charging
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a massive 6,200mAh battery and supports 90W charging, which allows you to juice up your phone from 0-100% in about 70 minutes. In my experience, the battery goes on and on, so battery anxiety should not be a problem, although your mileage may vary.
Camera Capabilities
Camera buffs will like the phone’s camera setup, which packs a 50MP main camera, a 50MP zoom lens, and an 8MP wide-angle camera. Preliminary testing showed that the camera shines in bright light, taking clear and colourful photos. This is complemented by AI camera tools, like AI Image Expansion and AI Erase Pro.
To be Continued
Given its attractive price and strong features, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ looks set to continue the Redmi Note story. I will expand on my initial impressions in my full review, for watch out for that.
