Watch: Mitchell Starc dismisses Yashasvi Jaiswal on the the first ball of Adelaide Test

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashavi Jaiswal on the first ball of the Adelaide Test. Starc bowled a full delivery on the pads and trapped the Indian opener in front of the wickets. Jaiswal, who scored a hundred in the Perth Test, departed without troubling the scorers.

Jaiswal’s wicket marked the third occasion when Starc picked a wicket on the first ball of a Test. No other bowler has managed to match this feat in cricket.

There were words exchanged between Jaiswal and Starc during the first Test in Perth. India India’s second innings, Jaiswal after defending a delivery from Starc said that the Aussie pacer was bowling too slow. When Starc was asked about Jaiswal’s “sledge”, he said that he didn’t hear what the young batter had said.

The wicket was a throwback when Starc picked a wicket on the first ball of the 2020-21 Ashes series. The left-arm seamer bowled Rory Burn as the England opener’s leg stump was rattled with a swinging yorker in the match played at Brisbane’s Gabba.

Earlier Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. There were three changes in India’s playing XI as Rohit, Shubman Gill and Ravinchandran Ashwin replaced Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar.
