England football team captain Harry Kane had his bronze statue revealed in London earlier this month. The statue is placed at Peter May Sports Centre in Walthamstow. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated a giant statue of his in Novemeber last year. The statue is placed at the Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, the cricket stadium which Tendulkar calls his home. Wankhede is also the stadium where Sachin played his last international match. The statue depicts Tendulkar playing a lofted straight drive, a shot that he mastered during his playing days. Another legendary cricketer who has been immortalized with a statue is Shane Warne. The statue is placed just outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world. Warne is one of the greatest cricketers of his time and was a world-class spinner as he claimed 708 wickets in Test matches. MCG was a ground that was special for Warne as he picked his 700th Test wicket at this venue on December 26, 2006 when he bowled English batsman Andrew Strauss in his final Test appearance at the ground. One of the greatest hockey players of all time, Dhyan Chand, also known as the Wizard of Hockey, has been immortalized with a statue that has been placed outside the Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi.
