The statue is placed just outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world. Warne is one of the greatest cricketers of his time and was a world-class spinner as he claimed 708 wickets in Test matches. MCG was a ground that was special for Warne as he picked his 700th Test wicket at this venue on December 26, 2006 when he bowled English batsman Andrew Strauss in his final Test appearance at the ground.
