Pilikula Nisargadhama in Mangaluru to get facelift to attract more tourists

Karnataka Minister NS Boseraju, unveiled plans for a major overhaul of Pilikula Nisargadhama in Mangaluru on November 30, which was opened as a tourist spot by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in 2018. The transformation aims to elevate the site into a world-class destination. The Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology shared that this proposal would be discussed at the upcoming Pilikula Development Authority meeting.

At a review session with the Science and Technology Department officials, Boseraju highlighted Pilikula’s potential as a leading tourist destination. He pointed out that the extensive land at Pilikula Wildlife Sanctuary makes it an ideal location for such an ambitious development.

He further noted that a detailed plan for the transformation will be presented at the next meeting, and a formal proposal will be submitted as part of the upcoming state budget. Authorities have been instructed to fast-track the appointment of a consultancy agency to help implement the project.

In the same meeting, Boseraju also announced that the Department of Science and Technology will host a two-day Quantum Summit in July 2025. The event will showcase Karnataka’s advancements in quantum technology and promote global partnerships.

“Discussions are currently underway with international experts in quantum technology to facilitate knowledge sharing,” the statement said. “Minister Boseraju has urged officials to begin preparations without delay to ensure the success of the summit.”

Additionally, Boseraju called for swift action on the new sub-regional science centers being built in Raichur, Chikkamagaluru, and Yadgir. He also updated that the Science City project near Bengaluru International Airport is progressing, with land already allocated by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). Officials have been directed to accelerate the preparation of a Detailed Project Report.
