Jharkhand Ministers List 2024: Complete details of ministers and portfolios under Soren’s leadership
Hemant Soren, the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Thursday, November 28, marking the beginning of his fourth term in office. The ceremony, held in Ranchi, was attended by a host of prominent leaders from Opposition parties, underscoring the event’s political significance.

Governor Santosh Gangwar administered the oath of office to Soren in the presence of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, among others. The gathering of leaders from across the political spectrum symbolised the unity of Opposition forces.

Victory for the alliance

The swearing-in followed the decisive electoral success of the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance in the recently concluded Assembly elections. The coalition secured a comfortable majority by winning 56 out of 81 seats in the state assembly.

The JMM emerged as the single largest party with 34 seats, while Congress won 16 and the RJD bagged 4 seats. The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) also secured 2 seats, adding to the alliance’s strength.

In contrast, the BJP-led NDA managed to win only 25 seats, with its campaign focusing on issues such as corruption and alleged infiltration of Bangladeshi migrants into tribal regions
