The threats, which occurred on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, prompted swift action from law enforcement to ensure the safety of those targeted. Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump-Vance transition team, confirmed the incidents but did not specify the identities of those affected or provide further details on the nature of the threats.
“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, American threats to their lives and those who live with them. These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting,’ Leavitt said in a statement.
She praised law enforcement’s quick response but emphasised that these threats will not hinder the transition team’s work.
“In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action. President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation by ensuring a safe and prosperous future. With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us,” Leavitt added.
The FBI and the Justice Department were contacted for comment but did not immediately respond. This comes months after an assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania in July and a separate incident in September where a man was charged with attempted assassination after allegedly positioning himself with a rifle near one of Trump’s Florida golf courses.
The latest threats follow Trump’s recent announcements of his cabinet selections following his election victory on November 5. Despite the disturbing incidents, the president-elect has not commented on the situation publicly.
