“The Centre is willing and is ever ready to assist the northeastern states, including Mizoram, if the state governments submit proposals for good tourism projects,” Singh said, as per the statement.
The Union Minister also mentioned that while many tourism projects have already been implemented with the Centre’s support, there remains considerable work to be done in terms of further promoting tourism in Mizoram.

Shekhawat assured the state BJP leader that securing government funding would not be an issue, provided the Mizoram government collaborates effectively with the Centre on these initiatives.
According to the Mizoram Tourism Department, the state has reported a robust influx of tourists in 2023, with over 196,000 visitors, including domestic and foreign travellers visiting the state.

Among the total tourist count, 1,93,445 were domestic tourists, while 3,435 were foreigners, with Americans comprising the largest group. Visitors from countries like Japan, Australia, Israel, Canada, and the United Kingdom also explored Mizoram’s attractions. Northeast India is becoming a hub for tourists, with Sikkim witnessing record number of tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2024.
