The Nifty 50 jumped over 300 points after undergoing a gap-up start on Monday, while the Sensex also regained its psychologically important 80,000 mark, a day after the BJP scored a big win in the Assembly elections in Maharashtra.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance registered a landslide victory in the Maharashtra elections whose results were announced on November 23, 2024. The results saw the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ alliance sweeping the state, winning 230 out of the 288 Assembly seats. The BJP not only recorded the best tally since 1990 with 132 seats, but also became the first party in the coalition era to emerge as the single-largest party in every region of Maharashtra.
Adani Green Energy shares fall 10% after TotalEnergies suspends further investment for now
Shares of Adani Green Energy fell sharply on Monday, with the stock trading down 9.90% at ₹948.20 ahead of market close, following TotalEnergies’ announcement that it would not make new financial contributions amid a US federal indictment involving the Adani family.
“Until such time when the accusations against the Adani group individuals and their consequences have been clarified, TotalEnergies will not make any new financial contribution as part of its investments in the Adani group of companies,” the French energy company stated.

S&P Global lowers India GDP growth forecast for FY26 and FY27
