Alamat took on the “Fine dining restaurant” trend, and flexed Filipino languages while at it!
In their latest TikTok video, the members spoke in their native languages as they acted out the trending lines of Toni Fowler in a car.
Jao spoke in Kapampangan, Tomas in Bicolano, R-Ji in Waray, Mo in Tagalog, Alas in Bisaya, and Taneo in Ilocano.
Ever since their debut, Alamat has been championing Filipino culture and making P-Pop with a purpose. The members are all from Philippine provinces, and have various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Alamat is commended for showcasing Filipino culture throughout their music and video concepts, as well as their outfits and choreography, even featuring the tinikling, singkil, and pangalay in the “Maharani” music video.
Their lyrics also tackle themes like colonialism, indigenous culture, and Filipino mythology, and are often sung in the members’ languages.
Alamat is best known for their songs “Maharani,” “Dagundong,” “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” “Day and Night,” and “Say U Love Me.”
Alamat is set to release a new EP, “Destino” this year.
Meanwhile, “fine dining restaurant” is a current trending meme because of Toni Fowler.
In a 2024 episode of Toni’s online reality show “ToRo Family,” she called out Mikay for her impolite attitude when they were dining at a fancy restaurant.
“Noong dinner, anong nangyari? May inaabot ka kay Papi. P***** ina, nalaglag ‘yung biskuwit, tama? Tayo ay nasa fine dining restaurant ‘di ba? So ‘yung pagka-squatter natin, iwan natin sa bahay,” Toni told Mikay.
