
The poll campaign for the 70-member Delhi assembly ended on 3 February, leaving 1.56 crore eligible voters to exercise their right to vote on 5 February. The incumbent AAP aims for a third consecutive term, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strives to end its 27-year drought in Delhi, and Congress seeks a much-needed comeback.
Here’s what the exit polls said in the previous two assembly elections in Delhi.
Delhi elections 2020 exit polls:
India Today exit poll: AAP likely to win 59-68 seats, BJP 2-11 seats. Congress was projected to win zero seats.
ABP-CVoter exit poll: AAP likely to win 49-63 seats, BJP 5-19 seats, Congress 0-4 seats.
Four exit polls: Times Now-Ipsos, Republic-Jan ki Baat, TV9 Bharatvarsh-Cicero, and NewsX—predicted a clear win for AAP.
NewsX Exit Poll: AAP to win 50-56 seats, BJP 10-14 seats, and Congress zero seats.
The exit polls’ predictions came true as AAP won 62 seats, with the BJP securing just eight and Congress failing to win any seats.
Delhi elections 2015 exit poll results:
C-Voter: AAP expected to get 31 to 39 seats, BJP 27 to 35, Congress 2 to 4
ABP-Neilsen: AAP expected to get 39 seats, BJP 28, and Congress 3
Cicero: AAP expected to get 39 seats, BJP 26, and Congress 3
News Nation: AAP expected to get 39 to 43 seats, BJP 25 to 29, and Congress 1 to 3
India News: AAP expected to get 53 seats, BJP 17, and Congress 0
News 24-Today’s Chanakya: AAP expected to win 44 seats, BJP 22, and Congress 0
Despite predictions of a close contest, AAP achieved a landslide victory in 2015, sweeping 67 out of 70 constituencies. BJP managed to win only three seats, while Congress failed to secure any.
