Several Kapuso personalities of Chinese descent were recognized by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) for their contributions to Philippine society through their respective fields.
According to a “Balitanghali” report on Thursday, multi-awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho received the Outstanding Filipino-Chinese Friendship Award for Journalism.
National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, meanwhile, received the Outstanding Filipino-Chinese Friendship Award for Literature. Lee was one of the scriptwriters of GMA’s “Green Bones,” which won Best Picture at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024.
Other Kapuso awardees include “Green Bones” star and MMFF 2024 Best Actor Dennis Trillo, “i-Bilib” host Chris Tiu, and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee, although they were unable to attend the event.
The event was held during the FFCCCII’s Chinese New Year Dinner Reception and Special Awards Ceremony in Pasay City on Wednesday.
“I’m 25% Chinese, ‘yung lolo ko came from Guangdong province around 90 years ago,” shared Soho.
“I’m very happy they’re honoring my Chinese side. Ako naman, I feel that this is also my chance to honor my Chinese grandfathers,” she added.
Congratulations!
