As per the latest trends by the Election Commission, the Hemant Soren-led alliance is currently leading on 55 seats in the state, while the NDA was ahead only in 25.
Although the NDA seemed confident about its prospects in the state after going all out in the poll campaign, the results were not as expected.
Driving out the ‘infiltrators’ from the Santha Parganas region was the saffron party’s poll plank in the state, and it fell flat against the Soren-led alliance. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) also made the Enforcement Directorate’s arrest of the Chief Minister a huge election issue.
The INDIA bloc comprised the JMM, Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and CPI(ML) among others. It was pitted against the NDA, which includes the BJP, AJSU Party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United).
In Jharkhand, voting for the 2024 Assembly election was held in two phases on November 13 and 20, covering all 81 seats in the tribal-dominated state.
