Jharkhand Elections 2024: Soren-led alliance shines with top candidates winning by over 85,000 votes
The Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 marked a decisive win for the INDIA bloc, with the Hemant Soren-led JMM solidifying its position in the state. The alliance secured a comfortable majority, retaining Jharkhand as its stronghold. Among the top performers, Nisat Alam of the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged as the biggest winner, clinching the Pakaur seat by a record margin of 40,121 votes, reflecting robust public support for the INDIA bloc.

Following closely is Deepak Birua of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), who won the Chaivasa seat by a decisive margin of 34,718 votes.

Another notable winner from JMM, Niral Purty, secured the Majhgaon constituency by a margin exceeding 30,000 votes, showcasing the alliance’s stronghold in tribal-dominated regions.

In urban strongholds, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saw a mixed performance. Manoj Kumar Yadav from Barhi constituency emerged as a significant winner for the BJP, with a lead of over 21,000 votes, while Raj Sinha retained his seat in Dhanbad with a margin of approximately 18,500 votes.

The INDIA bloc’s overwhelming success was celebrated across the state as Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed gratitude to the electorate for reaffirming their trust in the alliance. The BJP, despite aggressive campaigning on issues such as “infiltration” in the Santhal Parganas, struggled to counter the JMM’s narrative of tribal welfare and Soren’s public sympathy following his arrest earlier this year.
