Two members of Nardo Wick’s entourage — including a 15-year-old — turned themselves in to police after a fan was beaten for asking for a photo with the Florida rapper.
Zachary Benton, 34, and Edward Hamlett, 15, surrendered to Tampa Police Friday, according to WFLA.
They were each charged with felony battery and Hamlett also received an additional charge for having possession of a gun as a minor, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
Fan George Obregon, 20, was left in critical condition with a brain bleed and a concussion after he allegedly walked up to Walls in hopes of meeting his “favorite artist.”
He was blindsided and Benton hit him first before Hamlett went over and continued to wail on him until he fell unconscious, according to TMZ.
The suspects reportedly did not have a close relationship with Wick, whose legal name is Horace Bernard Walls III.
“I want everyone to see what these motherf—ers did to my son,” the VIP-ticketholder’s mother, Michelle Obregon, said Monday. “At no point was my son aggressive, at no f—in’ point did he show any sign of harm! My son wanted a stupid f—in’ picture with his favorite artist! And this is what he gets! I am sick to my stomach to think about how this could have turned out!
“Anyone who knows my son knows he is the sweetest and gentlest kid ever. No drugs, alcohol, gang, nothing! I am dying here and my f—in’ heart is hurting so bad I am sick to (my) stomach. I can’t stay quiet.”
Obregon’s father, George Obregon Sr., accused the rapper of not cooperating with police.
“We don’t know the suspect’s name because the rapper has not identified them. [Wick] is not talking. He does not want to cooperate,” the father previously told Daily Mail.
The two men allegedly talked to the rapper before turning themselves in, TMZ reported.
Walls took to Instagram this week to say he had nothing to do with the assault on Obregon. He also offered help to the family.
“I don’t stand with the situation that happened, I was fully unaware of the situation that was about to take place,” he said.
“As soon as it happened I tried to deescalate the situation, and after the situation I got in contact with his mama, I told her I’d do anything to make it up to him as a fan.”
