Amit Deshmukh has been representing the Latur City seat in the Maharashtra Assembly since 2009. Earlier, he served as the medical education minister during the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.
This time, a total of 23 candidates were in the fray from the Latur City seat.
Voting for the 2024 Assembly election in Maharashtra was held in a single phase on November 20.
In the 2024 polls, the ruling Mahayuti registered a landslide victory, defeating the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
As per the latest trends, the Mahayuti is currently ahead in 233 of the 288 seats in the state, while the MVA is only eying a win in the remaining 50.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the Mahayuti for its historic victory in the Maharashtra Assembly election, noting it’s a win for development and good governance.
Further, he assured the people in the state of the ruling Mahayuti alliance’s continued work for the state’s progress.
“Development wins! Good governance wins! United we will soar even higher! Heartfelt gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Maharashtra, especially the youth and women of the state, for a historic mandate to the NDA. This affection and warmth is unparalleled. I assure the people that our Alliance will keep working for Maharashtra’s progress. Jai Maharashtra,” PM Modi wrote on X.
While the Mahayuti featured the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party, the MVA comprised the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP.
