Vasai Virar election results 2024 Live: BJP’s Sneha Dube Pandit takes lead over BVA’s Hitendra Thakur
BJP’s Sneha Dube Pandit polled 93,745 votes in the Vasai-Virar constituency in Maharashtra and defeated her main rival, BVA candidate Hitendra Vishnu Thakur by a margin of 3,153 votes, the Election Commission of India declared.

The Vasai constituency, located in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, was part of the state’s 288 Assembly elections held on November 20. The results will be out on Saturday evening. The BJP-led Mahayuti, currently leading in 217 of the 288 seats, looks all set to retain power in Maharashtra, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is struggling with only 50 seats.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Hitendra Thakur, representing the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, secured the Vasai seat, defeating Shiv Sena’s Vijay Govind Patil. Thakur’s victory margin that year was almost 26,000.

Thakur also won in the 2014 elections, defeating Independent candidate Vivek Raghunath Pandit (Bhasu) by a margin of almost 32,000 votes.

The Vasai constituency is being closely watched as a crucial battleground. With a diverse voter base and a history of intense political rivalries, the constituency is expected to witness a fierce contest among prominent candidates. The incumbent MLA, Hitendra Thakur from the Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi, faced stiff competition from Sneha Dube Pandit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who was declared elected by a margin of 3,153 votes.

Hitendra Vishnu Thakur from the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) was the winning candidate in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Vasai constituency. He defeated Vijay Govind Patil from the Shiv Sena (SHS), with a margin of almost 26,000 votes.
