Super Burrito Has a New Stand at Threes Brewing in Gowanus

Here’s a new reason to visit Threes Brewing: Super Burrito, the popular burrito shop with locations in Williamsburg and Rockaway Beach, is setting up shop at the brewery’s original location in Gowanus from now until next spring. Since 2016, the brewery has been home to a stand run by the Meat Hook butcher shop, which sold one of the city’s best burgers. Super Burrito owner Eugene Cleghorn is taking over the kitchen starting this Friday, through the end of March. His stand will have several popular items from Super Burrito — burgers, crunch wrap supremes, and California burritos — plus a few new ones, like chimichangas and carne asada french fries. Opening hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 3 to 11 p.m. on Friday; noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Coszcal de Allende is back open

Coszcal de Allende, a decade-old Mexican restaurant that closed this year, has returned in a new location. The restaurant shuttered at the end of July over issues with its landlord; the owners announced a week later they would reopen at 7506 Third Avenue, near 75th Street, in Bay Ridge. The family-run Mexican restaurant is now open for takeout and delivery. The menu has quesadillas with truffles, chicken al pastor, fajitas, and more.

A decades-old Caribbean bakery expands

Manhattan has a new option for beef patties, currant rolls, and other Caribbean baked goods. Allan’s, the decades-old bakery based in Flatbush, Brooklyn, now has a second location on the Lower East Side. The small shop sells pastries that are baked in Brooklyn, like coconut rolls, apple turnovers, and several types of Caribbean patties. Opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Queens has a new Yemeni coffee shop

Mokafé, a Yemeni- and Palestinian-owned coffee shop, is now open in Astoria. The cafe opened last week at 25-73 Steinway Street, near 28th Avenue; there’s another location in Paterson, New Jersey. The shop imports its beans from Yemen and roasts them, one of several businesses in the area to do so. Aside from coffee, it has croissants, avocado toast, and sabayah, a sweet Yemeni pastry.
