As Musk watches on, Trump vows to colonise Mars

With Elon Musk — tech-billionaire, close Trump aide and the head of the newly instituted Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — watching on from the audience, Trump invoked the spirit of the frontiersmen and pioneers who explored, expanded and gradually sculpted America from a group of loosely bound, disparate territories into the United States of America.

“Americans pushed thousands of miles through rugged land, crossed deserts, scale mountains, and braved untold dangers,” Trump said, adding that this best exemplified the American spirit, and was the formula for America becoming great again.

“The United States will once again consider itself a growing nation — one that increases our wealth, expands our territory, and builds our cities.” He declared that the pursuit of “manifest destiny” would now extend into the stars.

Trump painted a picture of a future where American ingenuity leads the way in space exploration, harnessing technology to unlock new possibilities.

…our country was forged and built by the generations of patriots who gave everything they had for our rights and our freedom. They were farmers and soldiers, cowboys and factory workers, steel workers and coal miners, police officers and pioneers who pushed onward, marched forward and let no obstacle defeat their spirit or their pride. Together, they laid down the railroads, raised up the skyscrapers, built great highways, won two world wars, defeated fascism and communism and triumphed over every single challenge that they faced,” Trump further said.

“If we work together, there is nothing we cannot do and no dream we cannot achieve,” he concluded, urging the nation to embrace the next great adventure, echoing the sentiment that America’s best days are still ahead.
