Matrimony.com enters job-search market, launches Manyjobs.com targeted exclusively at entry-level job postings
Well over two decades after launching India’s first match-making website, Matrimony.com CEO Murugavel Janakiraman, has made a foray into the job-search market. The latest from Matrimony.com’s stables, Manyjobs.com, hopes to connect job-seekers looking for entry-level or “frontline” jobs with potential recruiters in this “grey-collared” space, as Janakiraman calls it.

“We saw an opportunity in the grey-collared job-search market,” said Janakiraman in an exclusive chat with CNBC-TV18, “Manyjobs.com is an exclusive job portal for grey-collared workforce, which constitutes 45% of the overall workforce in India – we’re not just another job portal.”

The matchmaking tech guru said the time is right to foray into the job-search market since there is a gap that needs to be bridged. “Nearly 20 years ago there was a lack of openings, but today there are jobs available given that attrition rates have also increased,” he said, “The challenge we’re overcoming is to match job-seekers with recruiters and bridge the gap in the grey-collared job market.”

Manyjobs.com, Janaikraman said, would target filling vacancies in sectors like Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), customer service, retail, sales and healthcare. The key differentiator that the website comes with, he believes, is that existing job portals like Naukri and Monster.com don’t exclusively cater to entry-level or front-line jobs.

For the moment, the website will cater to jobs in Tamil Nadu and service users in English as well as Tamil. “We want to make Manyjobs.com successful in Tamil Nadu before getting into other markets,” said Janakiraman, “In the next year, we hope to have a total of one million job-seekers, one lakh job postings and 25,000 companies signing up.”

Interestingly, Janakiraman does not plan to monetise Manyjobs.com at least for the next two quarters: “We are not looking at revenue as a target – we see the need for an exclusive grey-collared job portal at this time.” He added: “In a couple of quarters, we will monetise it; there are companies who are happy to subscribe, but it’s too early to talk about that now.”

The hope now is that Manyjobs.com reaches its milestones and begins placing candidates as well. By Q1FY26, if all goes to plan, Matrimony.com will take its new website to further markets in India, and scale-up its plans to create an exclusive job portal for grey-collared jobs.
