Two siblings with multiple lumps in different parts of their bodies are set to undergo operation next week thanks to GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Operation Bukol project.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Wednesday, Ricardo and Angelina Garcia are suffering from neurofibromatosis, or tumor of the nerves.
The lumps have grown in their faces, their neck, their arms, their legs, and even their fingers. Due to their condition, the brother and sister were not able to start their own families.
“Nawalan ako ng kumpiyansa, halimbawa manliligaw ka ng babae, parang pinanghinaan ako ng loob,” Ricardo said. “Binubuhos ko na lang po sa paglilingkod sa Panginoon.”
Angelina, meanwhile, learned to be content to simply earn a living.
“Kahit ganito ako po ang kondisyon ako po ay may hanapbuhay,” she said.
Dr. Zharlah Flores, Chief Medical Professional Staff II of Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, said neurofibromatosis has no treatment available at present. The lumps can be removed, but they may still return.
