The strike is a result of three key grievances raised by the staff. First, they highlighted the non-payment of salaries for December 2024, with no payment made as of the date of the memorandum. Second, the staff cited irregular and delayed payments of salaries over the last six months. Lastly, they pointed to the absence of any salary revisions since the establishment of NCLT in 2016.
In a statement, the protesting staff emphasised the ethical and professional obligations within government institutions, stressing their demand for the timely payment of rightful wages. “As a matter of ethics and general principles of professional engagement in any government organisation, we hereby re-iterate our unified demand for payment of our rightful wages, and for the concerned representatives of the institution to harbour the same through proper channels of communication in a timely manner,” the memorandum stated.
The strike, which affects operations at the NCLT Mumbai Bench, comes amid ongoing concerns over the treatment and welfare of contractual and outsourced employees within government institutions.
