As part of the ongoing collaboration, India has agreed to form a Joint Working Group with Nepal to discuss the acceptance of the Online Certificate of Origin (CoO) under the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement. This move is expected to streamline trade between the two nations.
In addition to the wheat supply and transit access, India has updated its Plant Quarantine Order to include Sal Seeds and Chayote, paving the way for expanded agricultural trade.
Furthermore, extracts of Jatamasi-Root, Sugandhkokila berry, Sugandhwal Rhizome, and Timur berry have been added to India’s list of processed plant products, as per Nepal’s request.
In exchange, Nepal has agreed to consider India’s export of milk products, including whey and cheese, expanding the scope of mutual trade in agricultural and dairy products.
