In line with the objective to increase ‘Jan Bhagidari’ across events of national importance, these architects of ‘Swarnim Bharat’ come from diverse backgrounds. Among these are the best performers in various fields as well as people who have made the best use of several flagship schemes of the central government.
The Defence Ministry said the Sarpanches of villages that achieved their targets in selected government initiatives are also among the invitees.
The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances held a national-level competition among panchayats and the ones that achieved their targets in at least six flagship schemes have got the special invites.
Some of these guests have carried out exemplary work, ensuring income and employment generation as well as environment protection via the Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Further, SHGs that are working in areas of food, nutrition, health, water sanitation and hygiene, Panchayati Raj Institutions-Community Based Organisations Convergence and gender activities have also been invited for this year’s Republic Day Parade.
Meanwhile, preference was given to SHG members who had not visited the national capital.
Among others who have been sent invites are PM-JANMAN mission participants, National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation ventures, ASHA workers, Tribal artisans/Van Dhan Vikas Yojna members and MyBharat volunteers.
For the first time, the disaster relief workers, Pani Samiti, water warriors, community resource persons, and forest and wildlife conservation volunteers were sent invitations in acknowledgement of their work in the area of disaster relief and environment protection.
Invitations have also been given to farmers and families, who have extended support to environment conservation and the use of renewable energy under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana and PM KUSUM.
In the sports arena, members of the para-Olympic contingent, Bridge World Games Silver medalist, chess Olympiad medalist and Snooker World Championship Gold medalist have been sent invitations as special guests.
The special guests also include patent holders and start-ups to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. School children, who won the All India School Band Competition and Veer Gatha competition, have also been invited as special guests.
Besides the Republic Day celebrations, the special guests will also visit the National War Memorial, PM Sangrahalay along with other prominent places in the city, besides getting the opportunity to interact with the respective ministers.
