PM Modi launches projects worth over ₹2 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam: Details here

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, January 8, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than ₹2 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam.

In a major step towards his commitment to green energy and a sustainable future, the PM laid the foundation stone for the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub Project at Pudimadaka, about 50 km from Visakhapatnam city.

The state-of-the-art project, which entails an investment of around ₹1,85,000 crore, is the first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, read an official statement.

This will include investment in 20 GW renewable energy capacities, thus making it one of the country’s largest integrated green hydrogen production facilities.

It will produce 1500 TPD Green Hydrogen as well as 7500 TPD Green Hydrogen derivatives like green methanol, green urea and sustainable aviation fuel to primarily target the export market.

The project will likely contribute substantially to the country’s non-fossil energy capacity target of 500 GW by the year 2030.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several railway and road development projects worth more than ₹19,500 crore in the state, aimed at reducing congestion, enhancing regional social and economic growth, besides improving connectivity in the region.

These include laying the foundation for the South Coast Railway Headquarters at Visakhapatnam.

He also laid the foundation for the all-new Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli City in the Anakapalli district, furthering his vision of making healthcare accessible and affordable to one and all.

Aimed at creating thousands of jobs, the Bulk Drug Park will help accelerate economic growth due to its proximity to the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) as well as the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region.

Besides this, the PM laid the foundation for the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) under the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district.

Under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, the flagship project is being envisioned as a greenfield industrial smart city, eying to attract significant manufacturing investments of around ₹10,500 crore.

Further, this is projected to create roughly one lakh direct and indirect jobs in the region, significantly enhance livelihoods and drive regional progress.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan were also present at the event.

Earlier, amid cheers from the public, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy Pawan Kalyan, undertook a brief roadshow on Wednesday.
