UP, Delhi, Haryana and J&K School Closed due to cold wave condtions

Amid severe cold wave conditions, several cities across north India have extended school winter vacations.

Several regions have been experiencing extreme weather conditions over the past few weeks, from Rajasthan and Haryana to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Hence, the authorities have extended the winter break or announced school closures to ensure the safety of students.

Here’s a complete list of school closures across various states and cities:

Delhi

Schools across the national capital have been closed for 15 days from January 1-15, while a potential re-opening date of January 16 has been announced.

Haryana

The state government earlier announced that all schools in Haryana would remain closed from January 1 to January 15. They are scheduled to re-open on January 16.

Punjab

The winter break was extended until January 7 for all schools, including government and private institutions, in Punjab.

Jammu And Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir administration started the winter holiday for classes up to 5th standard on December 10, while winter vacation for students in Classes 6-12 began on December 16. The schools are now set to re-open on February 28.

Rajasthan

Earlier, all the schools in Rajasthan were closed until January 5. However, several districts in the state have now extended the winter holidays for a few more days.

Jharkhand

The state government said that all private and government schools from kindergarten to Class 8 would remain closed from January 7 till January 13.

Bihar

The Patna district administration has ordered all schools up to Class 8 to remain closed until January 11.

Uttar Pradesh

Noida: According to the latest order, schools in Noida recognised by all the boards (CBSE / ICSE / IB, UP Board and others) have been closed until further notice because of ‘dense fog and extreme cold’. This order applies to classes from nursery to 8th standard.

Lucknow:  In Lucknow, schools up to Class 8 have been shut until January 11, while online classes have been announced for Classes 9 through 12.

Agra and Mathura: Schools to remain closed until January 14 for Classes 1 to 8.

Ghaziabad: According to District Magistrate’s order, schools are to remain shut for Classes 1 to 8 until January 11.
