Delhi Assembly election 2025: Total number of voters in national capital rises to over 1.55 crore

Ahead of the 2025 Assembly election in Delhi, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer on Monday, January 6, released the final electoral roll. The national capital has 1,55,24,858 voters. The number increased by 1.09% since the publication of the October 29, 2024, draft of electors.

Among the total electors, 83,49,645 are male, 71,73,952 are female and 1,261 are third gender.

The total addition since the draft publication was 3,08,942, while the total deletion stood at 1,41,613, the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer said. Hence, there has been a net increase of 1,67,329 voters during this period.

In a press release, it stated that the gender gap has been reduced by 04 points, while the Elector–Population ratio has increased by 02 points.

As many as 52,554 first-time electors (18-19 age group) have been added to the list, during Special Summary Revision (SSR)-2025 from the date of draft publication.

Further, it said that eight FIRs have been registered against 24 people for submitting false or tampered documents to obtain Voter ID.

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer has cautioned people against the submission of false and fabricated documents to get new Voter IDs, ahead of the 2025 Assembly election in Delhi, due next month.

Among the total Delhi voters, there are 12,977 service voters, 2,08,302 come under the 18.19 age group and 79,436 come under PwD.

The city has 2,77,221 voters, who are 80 years of age and above, while there are 7,89,190 under the 70-79 age group and 13,77,909 under the 60-69 age group.

The Vikaspuri seat has the largest electorate among all the 70 Assembly constituencies, with 4,62,184 voters. Delhi Cantt has the smallest electorate (78,893).

The Tilak Nagar Assembly constituency has the highest gender ratio of 967, while Okhla has the lowest at 731.

The Election Commission is soon expected to announce the dates for the 2025 Assembly election in Delhi, where a triangular contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress is on the cards.

During the last two Assembly elections, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has registered landslide victories, bagging 67 of 70 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020. The BJP won three seats in 2015 and eight in the last Assembly polls. The Congress failed to open its account on both occasions.
