Sky Force Trailer: Akshay Kumar takes flight with debutant Veer Pahariya in patriotic drama based on true events

The trailer of Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and debutant Veer Pahariya, was unveiled on Sunday, January 5. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, the film is based on the true events of India’s first-ever airstrike on Pakistan during the Indo-Pak war of 1965.

The trailer sets the stage with a dramatic depiction of India’s response to Pakistan’s attacks on several air bases. The operation, named “Mission Skyforce,” sees Akshay Kumar portraying Group Captain OP Taneja, the leader of a 13-aircraft contingent, tasked with orchestrating the retaliatory strike. Veer Pahariya plays T Vijaya, a pilot whose fighter jet is hit during the mission, leading to his disappearance in enemy territory.

Kumar’s character embarks on a relentless quest to bring Vijaya back to India, with Sara Ali Khan portraying Veer’s devoted wife. The film delves into themes of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism, shedding light on a lesser-known chapter of India’s military history.

Sky Force draws inspiration from the bravery of Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya, who went missing during the 1965 airstrike on Pakistan’s Sargodha air base. Devayya was presumed dead and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra in 1988.

The trailer showcases Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and Sharad Kelkar alongside Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya.  Produced by Maddock Films, Sky Force is set to release on January 24, 2025.
