In downtown Peoria, one of the original founders of Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co. is working to revive the space with a new coffee business.
Ty Paluska expects to open Intuition Coffee + Juice with his wife, Kami, in the Kickapoo Building’s former coffee shop in late October.
“And yes, the beloved Jumer bear will also grace the premises with its presence,” the news release noted.
Paluska was one of three cofounders to open Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co. in 2011. Roughly five years later, he left the downtown Peoria business – situated at 734 Main St. – “to pursue other professional coffee opportunities.”
Since then, Paluska has spent time working for coffee-based business in Idaho and Utah. Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co. closed in June, though, and the owners of the building reached out to Paluska about bringing a new coffee shop to the space.
“With his early success at thirty-thirty, his newfound professional experience and with the support of his wife Kami, who worked at a juice bar in Idaho for over 3 years, the concept for Intuition Coffee + Juice was born,” the news release noted.
The business plans to offer various espresso and coffee drinks, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, wholesale coffee beans and more. Customers at the shop will also be able to order baked goods from local businesses including Riley’s Vegan Sweets & Eats and Le Bakery.
Eventually, the release said the business will expand into the former Margie’s Dry Cleaners space. Plans for the addition include extra indoor seating, covered outdoor seating, a shopping area for locally made products and extra room for the business to operate.
According to the news release: “Intuition’s main focus will not just be to provide the best coffee in town, but there will be a strong emphasis given to sustainability, hospitality, wellness, and community.”
