McDonald’s customers have revealed an ultra-secretive off-menu burger than can only be procured from the fast food chain if you happen to request it at a very specific time of day.
While the fast food eatery offers an array of burgers on its publicly-available menu, several fans of the chain have now brought to light a new special dish that blends elements from its breakfast and lunch menus to create the aptly-named ‘McBrunch Burger’.
Made with sesame buns, two cheeseburger patties, bacon, eggs, and a hash brown, the elusive McBrunch Burger can only be requested at McDonald’s locations at 10:35AM – the so-called sweet spot when most chains change over from breakfast to lunch service and therefore have items from both menus available.
McDonald’s fans have been sharing theories about the McBrunch Burger on TikTok – prompting food-focused content creator Tommy Winkler, who is known online as ‘The Food Guy’, to attempt to track down the off-menu item, which he said is only available between 10:30 and 11AM each day.
In a video shared to his account, he documented his experience of securing – and then trying out – the burger, which he purchased from his local chain for just $5.
‘Catch me here at 10:35 every morning,’ he captioned the video – which showed him trying to order the McBrunch Burger at the drive-thru.
While the staff member who dealt with Tommy’s initial order seemed somewhat perplexed by his request – asking him to ‘hold on a minute’ – he revealed that he ultimately managed to get hold of the burger, albeit with egg whites instead of scrambled eggs because the chain had ‘run out’.
He quickly inhaled the tasty treat, pausing only to give a thumbs up to the camera as his only form of review.
However, Tommy isn’t the only fan of the if-you-know-you-know secret item.
Foodie and content creator Jordan The Stallion – who is famous for his videos that focus on life hacks and secret menu reveals – also shared his thoughts on the burger in his own TikTok clip.
While responding to a post shared by another user who expressed her shock that you can get a ‘whole basket of fries’ at McDonald’s, Jordan said: ‘I don’t think you guys understand how much knowledge I have about fast food secrets.
‘I literally started a club in college called the Fast Food Secrets Club.
‘You can absolutely get a basket a fries at McDonald’s… but do you know what else you can get?’
He went on: ‘McDonald’s has a secret menu. If you go to McDonald’s around the time breakfast ends and lunch begins, you can order what is called a McBrunch Burger.
‘Yes they are probably annoyed if you order it but it is a real thing, right. Do with that information what you will. Share with your closest friends.’
Fascinated foodies flocked to the replies – with many revealing that they had attempted to order the McBrunch Burger, only for their local McDonald’s staff to refuse their request.
One person wrote about their experience attempting to get the burger: ‘I tried to order a McBrunch Burger at the drive thru and bro said: “Imma be honest I ain’t doin all that.”‘
Another added: ‘Why y’all lying to be [because] I’m in line now and they told me: “No TikTok orders.”‘
Several users claiming to be McDonald’s workers also weighed in on the trend, with many noting that the availability of the McBrunch Burger is based on the location at which you’re requesting it.
‘That McBrunch burger hits hard. As a former McDonald’s employee I used to do this during my break,’ said one commentator that completed the taste-test.
‘I work there. This must not be at all locations cause we don’t have this,’ another said.
‘Me a McDonald’s manager: “WE DON’T DO THAT HERE,” wrote one annoyed employee.
Other commentators mentioned that the rare food item was a part of the regular menu in Texas and Australia and was even openly advertised in stores.
A former McDonald’s corporate chef also spoke about what some refer to as the 10:35 burger.
Mike Haracz believes the secret to getting one is how well you know the crew or the manager since ‘that is not something that is normally on the menu,’ he warned in his TikTok video.
The Illinois-based chef has been asking for a burger with eggs on it for a long time ‘especially with all-day breakfast,’ however, his food request was always denied and he was ‘vetoed by all the powers.’
He suggested to make your own version if you can’t purchase the item.
You simply order a side of scrambled eggs, one hash-brown, a bacon quarter pounder and put everything together to create the huge meal.
