Halle Berry Was Not at All Amused After This Artist Used a Photo of Her To Promote New Music

We’re so accustomed to seeing fabulous snapshots and rare, intimate moments with her loved ones on Halle Berry’s Instagram grid. But her latest post definitely indicated that something was off. The Monster’s Ball Oscar winner took to social media and seemingly called out one music artist who used a photo of her to promote his latest single.

Let’s start from the beginning. A few days ago, Drake shared a photo of Berry covered in green slime at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards as the cover art of his new single “Slime You Out,” featuring SZA. Without calling him out directly, Berry took to her own Instagram page yesterday and shared a quote, which read, “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you’re a woman!” You can see the post HERE. Naturally, fans began to speculate in the comment section whether Berry was referencing the “Hotline Bling” singer in the post, and she seemingly confirmed their suspicions by responding to a few fans.

“Didn’t get my permission. That’s not cool. I thought better of him!” Berry responded to one fan who directly asked what the Bruised actress and filmmaker’s thoughts were on “drake using that picture of you for his single?” Berry followed up her initial comment by saying “Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on!” You can see the screenshots of the comments via People.

Throughout the comment section of her post, Berry received a lot of support from fans. One even commented to say, “It’s the principle people,” to which Berry responded, “Exactly!! It’s about principles and integrity. So happy many of you get that.” Asking permission and providing context matters when using someone’s image or likeness. Despite her clear frustration and disappoint, Berry is taking the high road on this one.
